There are several aspects of this blog that you may not find in other ‘How to Do Business in China’ guides/blogs, or at least not all of them in combination.

Is It Reliable?

Many of the conflicting interpretations of good business practice in China fail to clarify whether any firsthand knowledge or experience is involved in those interpretations and the resulting advice.

This blog is written by someone who spent a significant amount of time in China as a Western businessperson, experiencing and reacting to all of the situations discussed here on a regular basis.

Is It Pertinent?

The situations and scenarios described in this blog are not hypothetical possibilities. They will almost certainly arise, most likely repeatedly, during the course of your Chinese business relationships.

Is It Thorough?

While this blog provides some historical and cultural context, it is limited to what is necessary to gain a better understanding of the sources or causes of Chinese behaviours and related business situations.

In other words, every effort has been made to avoid introducing information that is not directly pertinent to guiding a Western businessperson in China.
